What to write about

  • Corrections. The most useful mail we get. If a calculator disagrees with your official estimate, an OPM handbook chapter, or your agency's benefits office, tell us — and if you can, include the figures you entered and the number you expected. A rule we have modeled wrongly is a bug, and it gets fixed and noted rather than quietly patched.
  • Rules we have not modeled. Each tool lists what it deliberately leaves out. If the thing your retirement turns on is on one of those lists — the annuity supplement, a special provision, CSRS Offset, a break in service — say so. That is how the build order gets decided.
  • General questions. How a tool works, where a figure came from, or which calculator answers the question you actually have.

What not to write about

We cannot advise you on your own retirement, and we will not try. Whether to go at 60 or 62, whether to elect a survivor benefit, whether to buy back military service — those are decisions with a licensed adviser, your agency's benefits officer, or OPM, all of whom can see your actual record. This site computes and then stops, and that limit is the point of it rather than a gap in it.

Please also don't send personal information. We have no use for your Social Security number, your CSA or claim number, or a copy of your service record, and the tools on this site never ask for them.

Response time

There is no support desk here and no service-level promise. Every message is read, and corrections to a calculation go to the front of the queue.
